[13 Feb 2011|10:55pm] hey, livejournal. how's things? my last update was a week before i went to japan. that was the best 3 weeks of my life. i went to vietnam and cambodia last year as well. you should do that, cambodia especially. it's amazing. i'm getting married in september, that's kind of cool and life-changing. it's funny, getting engaged has made me see how a lot of other people see me. i've had many, many people ask if i'm wearing white, which i take to mean that i'm fairly non-traditional, so i like that. i will be wearing white, for the record. i had someone at work tell me how surprised they were to hear i was getting married, as that's so "conventional", which i took to mean that i'm a giant weirdo. awesome. my friends have told me they have fairly high expectations for our wedding day to be fun and creative so, uh, no pressure there. i've really been enjoying the wedding planning process, but i'm far too efficient for my liking. all the big stuff was decided in the first month, so now i just sit and wait until i can work on some of the finer details. anyway. how are you? never been to the wall

eeep. [08 Nov 2009|11:03am] [ mood | excited ] we're going to japan in 7 days. eeeep! this time next week we'll be on the plane. we've got our itinerary all sorted: tokyo > osaka > fukuoka > hiroshima > kyoto > takayama > nagano > tokyo we'll be there for 3 weeks which sounds like a really long time, but it will fly by so fast. we're seeing a sumo tournament in fukuoka, and staying in a ryokan in takayama (and hanging out with the snow monkeys), and going to the zoo in kyoto and the ghibli museum in tokyo and it's all going to be so amazing. my 5 year old kimono self thinks so too. all our accommodation is booked (except for the last 2 nights in tokyo which we'll sort out when we get there) and we've got our rail passes and i'm basically completely packed and ready to go. i'm usually never this organised. like, ever. but it feels really good to be prepared and ready for it all. plus i'm just so, so excited. 2 have never been to the wall

rar [16 Jun 2009|10:52pm] [ mood | anxious ] - tim and i live together now. it's pretty awesome. well, it's only been 3 days so far, but those 3 days have been top notch. - and we're going to japan in december. that is also awesome. - i have my 10 year high school reunion next month. that's kind of weird. i was originally planning to avoid it like the plague, but i ran into a friend from school yesterday and she talked me into going. i have a whole bunch of issues and insecurities about my high school friends, so i'm kind of anxious about it, but i think it will be fun. (basically, my whole group of friends from school have stayed friends for the last 10 years, with everyone except for me. it's weird, and it kind of hurts and i should be totally over it but i'm obviously not, so yeah.) it was just circumstances and my laziness more than anything else, and i have no ill will towards anyone or anything, and my life's pretty great now, but still. facebook sucks. i was awfully lonely for 2 or 3 years after high school finished, and it's just opened up a can of worms. wahhh. and the more i think about this, the more i think i'm just overreacting. ffs, i'm 28 next month. this is ridiculous. ANYWAY. - i've been having some epic tv marathons. i watched dawson's creek seasons 1 - 6 in about four weeks. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS. it was awful. but now i'm watching buffy, just started season 3... this one's much more enjoyable. 4 have never been to the wall

[02 Mar 2009|05:50pm] - i took a sick day today. i felt like crap all weekend, and then i slept til 11am this morning so i think i needed it. - i'm completely obsessed with the decemberists. - i've started an etsy store - shanshanx2.etsy.com - would be cool if you could take a look. or buy everything, that would be cool too. it's nice to have a hobby. this one seems to be sticking more than most do, and i'm constantly looking at things and getting ideas and really really enjoying it. someone buy me a stationery company to run please. - we're going to japan in december. we pinky swore, so that means it's going to happen. - are you on twitter? twitter.com/smallstakes. never been to the wall

[27 Dec 2008|07:42pm] these aren't resolutions, cause they are lame. more just like actual goals i'd like to achieve over the next year: - see at least one new movie every month - make at least one new recipe every fortnight - do at least one load of washing every week (is it wrong that i have to write that down?) - eat thai every single friday night (not really, but it's probably going to happen so i should make it a goal so i can say it was intentional when it does happen) 1 have never been to the wall
